Obituary for Jacquelyn Ruth Poulsen

Jacquelyn (Jacque), a 62-year resident of North Tustin passed Saturday, April 22, 2023, at the age of 85.

She was born in Hutcheson, Kansas to Parents Homer Howard Mead and Goldie Bethene (Cantrell) Mead. Before entering school, they moved west for her health.

She often told the story of how she was in thirteen schools in thirteen years. Between health reasons and her father’s employment as Divisional Sales Manager for General Foods they lived in Inglewood and Los Angeles, CA, Salt Lake City, UT, Phoenix, AZ, and finally in Denver CO. She went on to tell that one of the school transfers was because they built a new school in the district and was transferred to the new school.

She graduated from North High School in Denver, Class of 1955 where she enjoyed band and orchestra, playing flute and clarinet, along with being on the dance team, a Rockettes style dance troupe.

After High School, she attended Denver University, in Denver, CO where she pledged and became a member of the Iota Chapter of Sigma Kappa Sorority.

She would end up leaving school after two years to have her first child Howard, followed by two more children, Mary Beth, and Richard.

The family would eventually relocate to Southern California in 1961, where they purchased a home in North Tustin, where she resided until her passing.

She was a homemaker and took great pride in raising her children, serving as Room Mother numerous times, Cub Scout Leader, Brownie Leader, Little League Mom, VBS & Sunday School Teacher, and Marching Band Support parent.

She would eventually return to the work force, working with her older two children at the McDonalds on First St. in Tustin. She made many friends there.

After several years she went on to work for the Contact Lens Center on 17th Street in Santa Ana. There she developed many lifelong relationships with her work family that remained after her retirement.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Santa Ana for many years. She currently is a member of the Calvary Chapel Living Word, Irvine.

Jacque was the epitome of an amazing grandmother, doting and caring for her grandchildren, and in later years great grandchildren.
