Obituary for Luis Alfonso Granados

Luis Alfonso Granados 1931 – 2022

Today we honor the life of Luis Alfonso Granados. After enduring several complicated and varied medical issues, he passed away peacefully at age 91 on August 21, 2022. Luis was a beloved father, husband, son, uncle, and grandfather to an extended family.

He will be remembered as an honorable and humble man who overcame incredible odds to raise a family – thanks to his work ethic and a commitment to provide for his family no matter the obstacles in his path.

Coming from a family of 15 brothers and sisters, he journeyed as a young man from El Paso, TX to seek work in California. With only an elementary education he gained experience in all types of agriculture in central California during the early 1960s. From there he and wife Petra (Peggy), along with young children – Susan, Ruben, and Diana Norma – moved to Orange County. He was hired in 1966 by The Irvine Company’s agricultural division and served as a valued employee until his retirement.

Luis was blessed with a quick wit, sharp intellect, an engaging sense of humor. He was interested in all manner of topics – science, nature, geography, and how anything mechanical worked. He was a natural engineer, a problem-solver, and a keen judge of human nature. He will be missed, but always remembered.

He is survived by his three children:

Susan (Lester), grandson Aaron (Yessica) and great grandson Lucas; grandson Stephen (Sheena) and great grand stepson Isaiah.
Ruben (Wendy), granddaughter Natalie and grandson Jay.
Diana Norma (Harvey).

Brothers – Remigio (Soledad), Humberto (Rosa), Ubaldo (Mina), Reynaldo (Ana), and Virgilio (Norma).
Sisters – Martha (Hector) and Elena.

He is preceded in death by:

Wife – Petra (Peggy)
Parents – Feliciano and Adelina.
Brothers – Emilio (Josefina), Isabel, Antonio (Armida), and Epifanio
Sisters – Marie (Heriberto), Josefina, and Carmen (Antonio).
