Bill D’Andrea, 85, passed away on January 19, 2022, at Providence St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, CA, surrounded by his wife and daughters. Bill was born in Beaver Falls, PA, on November 8, 1936. He was the son of Fiore and Grace (Tataseo) D’Andrea who preceded him in death.
Bill was a graduate of Beaver Falls High School and Geneva College where he earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He was a proud member of the marching band and orchestra playing saxophone and clarinet. He also attended the University of Pittsburgh, beginning his lifelong interest in computers and technology. Bill had a successful sales and management career with Crouse-Hinds Co., Panduit Corp., JST Corp., and Straight Road Electronics. He opened a sales office in London, England, in 1977 for Crouse-Hinds. The family resided in Cobham, Surrey, for five years. After their time in England, Bill was transferred to California in 1981 and the family settled in Irvine.
He was a devoted member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church and, more recently, of St. Thomas More Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, Usher, member of the Parish Finance Council, and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, receiving his Pilgrim Shell. He was a dependable volunteer for many years.
Bill was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan and spent many Sundays after church watching his team on TV. He also loved playing and watching golf. He enjoyed helping organize golf tournaments, especially with his church buddies. He always cheered for any team his grandkids played on.
Mourning his loss is Lena, his wife of nearly 60 years; daughters Rita (Terry) Jakel, Jodi (Brian) Clancy, and Jennifer Hansen; and his beloved grandchildren Nick (Hannah) Jakel, Alexis and Fiona Clancy, and Luke Hansen; sister-in-law Rita Pressly; nephew David Pressly; and many cousins in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Italy.
His grandchildren gave him tremendous joy and he was extremely proud of each one of them. He loved his family dearly and cherished every moment he spent with them. Although we who remain behind will miss this kind and caring man every day of our lives, we are comforted by the certainty that Bill is rejoicing in the house of our Lord surrounded by Jesus, our Blessed Mother, and all of his loved ones and friends who have gone before him.
The D’Andrea family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Saddleback Chapel Mortuary in Tustin, CA, and will receive friends on Thursday, February 17, 2022, from 5 to 9 pm with a Rosary being recited at 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Irvine, CA, on Friday, February 18, 2022, at 10 am, followed by interment at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Orange, CA, at 1 pm.
